As we Westerners confront social upheaval, workplace distress, a rise in chronic conditions, and mental health crises, many Indigenous peoples see the challenges the modern world faces as an opportune time to share their wisdom and traditions with us. They know that we are not only facing tragedies and wars, but we are in the middle of a collective existential conflict that threatens the well-being of the planet. We have lost our way, becoming increasingly disconnected from nature, community, and spirituality, because we willingly allow our purpose to be overshadowed by the fear fed to us from a plate of societal and cultural falsehoods. What is lost can be found.
In the human experience, self-discovery is a highly personalized experience. We all blaze our own trail. There’s no right way or wrong way. I believe that if we tune into our inner wisdom, all roads lead to something beautiful. We can create a new track for our lives by asking ourselves probing questions. The answers will lead us to internal and external spaces we likely haven’t explored, and open up possibilities beyond our comprehension.
While crafting this book, a message was extended to me one evening as I participated in the Human Oracle Card Ritual with a friend. The question was asked, “Can you show us where to share the messages in this book?” The answer came through quickly. “Look to the illogical spaces.”
Having spent thirty years as a corporate strategist and executive, I learned to rely on thinking critically, listening primarily to what is considered logical. That all shifted when my health began to decline. Some of the most well-educated medical doctors in the US could not pinpoint what was plaguing my body.
